Kitchen Renovation
An awkward layout and poorly placed appliances left this kitchen feeling more like a bottleneck than the heart of the home. But after learning how this family actually used their space, we knew the solution wouldn't come from tearing down walls. Instead, we focused on fixing the daily flow within the existing footprint. We optimized the workflow by removing the dated, mismatched peninsula to create a massive, continuous workspace, and relocated the fridge to finally open up sight lines from the primary prep zone.
With the layout corrected, we turned our attention to smart storage. To keep those new countertops completely clear, we designed specific zones tailored to the family's actual routines. We added a floor-to-ceiling pantry wall for maximum closed storage, and built out a dedicated beverage station to keep morning traffic out of the main cooking area. We even carved a custom niche into the wall, complete with brass gallery rails for cookbooks—to cleverly hide extra bulk storage behind it.
For the finishes, we balanced striking contrast with organic warmth. Deep charcoal base cabinets anchor the room, while warm white uppers keep the space feeling light and airy. We layered in natural wood accents on the custom range hood and floating shelves, pairing them perfectly with the homeowner’s woven barstools. Tied together with a glossy, ceiling-height zellige-style backsplash and sleek brushed brass hardware, the kitchen is now as beautiful as it is functional.
